ACTION TAKING. LOTS OF IT. WITH DAN NORRIS.
The Merrymaker Sisters are action takers. That’s how they got to where they are today. I love their honesty. They say they don’t always have the best procedures in place and happily admit that their naivety in the early days was a bonus. Because you just do it, don’t overthink everything. Launch, learn and do more of what works.
“The difference between the people who get to realise their dreams and the people who just keep planning is one little word: ACTION.”
I listened to Emma and Carla chat to Dan Norris, founder of WP Curve, the KING of taking action and Getting Sh!t Done, about how to amp up their action taking. I not only took away some actionable ideas, but also had a rethink about what stops me from taking action.
If you are paralysed by analysis; realise you can’t do it all and need to work out how to outsource; or just plain scared of putting an idea out there, this podcast is for you.
Get ready to take notes on these points:
Processes. Decide what can be proceeduralised and write the process. Test it. Train it.
Apps. It’s not just the choice of Apps, it’s how Dan links them to get stuff done.
EG. Content Development. Dan records an idea on audio. It syncs to Dropbox. Goes to Trello. The VA is pinged and voila! the content is ready to be researched and written.
Outsourcing. What it costs. Coming to terms with a possible drop off in quality in order to free yourself up to be more productive elsewhere. Dan works on the 80/20 rule. 80% done by VA. 20% is his job. I love that Dan makes the VA accountable for reminding Dan to get his 20% done!
Fear of Failure. Dan has a refreshing attitude – he’s not that worried about failing after having so many public failures. Not everything will work. Think of a launch as an experiment. When something works, do more of it. Doesn’t work, move on fast.
Numbers Can Be Distractions. Forget about obsessing over likes. They talk about behavior and engagement that makes a real difference.

What is the one action you will take from listening to this podcast? Commit to it. Set a deadline. Put it in the comments so we can help keep you accountable.
Me? I love Dan’s method of recording ideas on audio. I’ve kinda started on this, but now I am going to put some process behind it.

The Merrymaker Sisters will be talking about their personal story and how they built several income streams at the WFA Conference. Their workshop on How to stand out from the crowd: amplifying YOU to build your business is one not to miss. It will be a hands-on action event!
