I’ll try and set the scene as best I can,

Today started off with a solid workout at the Sharing Bali Retreat in the hills above Ubud, day 3 of the Sharp Moves 12wbt retreat. The said workout didn’t take place beside a pool or in a fancy gym, it took place in various “outside gym” areas that the Sharing Bali/Sharp Moves team have created in the natural surrounds of the retreat. No fancy machines, no trendy body part specific high tech equipment, no, instead its coconuts, bamboo structures, trees, walls, logs and whatever other nature built objects they can adapt as workout implements.141105 Sitting on a rock 1

The outcome is the same but there is something about getting back to basics that make you feel even better at the end of your session. Having fun is a big part of a Sharing Bali workout too, today’s session finished with an alternative slant on celebrating today’s Melbourne Cup with our own horse race, both horse and jockey with 2 legs, it was an exciting photo finish but the judges were unable to separate a winner so it was declared that everyone was a winner on the day.

Breakfast of fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, a famous Sharing Bali banana pancake and a fresh Mango juice set us up for the day ahead.141105 Sitting on a rock 2

Then it was a case of pick your walking stick, just a piece of stick with a hand carved top nothing fancy and off we trek. We trekked through the rice paddies & jungle from the Sharing Bali retreat located in the hills above Ubud. The trek itself was pretty amazing, rugged, scenic, hilly and it had the real feel of walking through the “real” Bali.

We learnt as we made our way up and down the steep and rugged single trail that many of the fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices are actually farmed in the hillsides that surround this trail, we also stumbled across a cow shed deep in the same area, no wide open paddocks here.

That brings me to where I now sit on a rock with my feet in the river writing this blog about the day so far, no I didn’t trek with my laptop in my pack, instead I’ve reverted to good old fashioned pen and notebook. My sister Karen (owner of Sharing Bali) sits across from me on her own rock feet dangling in the same river with pen and notebook in hand doing her thing, meanwhile Jo Sharp (trainer and owner of Sharp Moves is practicing her “Bali Barre” in the same river.141105 Sitting on a rock 3

So here we are 3 people spending time together in the tranquil setting of a flowing river but in our own individual space working from anywhere in our own individual way.

The simple things in life…………
